Frequently Asked Questions For The Bison Pan™, A Condensation Drain Pan

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is an impact-resistant engineering thermoplastic. It is an amorphous polymer. It is made of three monomers: acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. It is a preferred choice for structural applications due to its physical properties. These properties include high rigidity, resistance to impact, abrasion, and strain. Used in electronic housings, auto parts, consumer products, pipe fittings, and toys.

As new and challenging applications are being developed for polymers and plastics, a parameter that helps define the temperature limit for use of that polymer is required. The continuous use temperature, also known as the continuous service temperature, is one parameter that is often quoted. 

ABS Max. Continuous Service Temperature: 86 °C / 186.8 °F

ABS Ductile/Brittle Transition Temperature: -25 °C / -13 °F

ABS plastic is a biocompatible and recyclable material. It does not have its own plastic number. Products made with ABS use recycling #9. ABS is 100% recyclable. 

Yes, you can use self tapping screws about a 1/2” down from the top, just like the metal pans.

The bigger pan needs 3 supports along each of the long sides.

Yes, The Bison Pans were made to directly replace the metal pans using the same type of PVC coupling connection.

With the metal pans, it is recommended that a spray liner be put on the inside of the pan.  The Bison Pans do not need a spray sealer and because of this, our pans are much less expensive and longer-lasting than the metal pans with condensation.

No, you just need to bring the pan relatively level to work. The Bison Pan has a 1” sloped tapered bottom and uses gravity to lead the water to the orifice.
